Noteworthy is the fact that TextWrangler can be integrated with various Unix tools and scripts via a command line tool. TextWrangler can be used to apply syntax coloring patterns to content written in various programming languages, such as C++, ANSI C, Perl, Python, Tcl, TeX, Object Pascal, Objective-C, Fortran, Java, Python, Rez, Ruby, or to Unix shell scripts. The content can then be sorted, extracted or subjected to other editing actions. The grep pattern recognition is also used to sort lines, to process duplicate lines, or to find differences. The app is employing a “grep” style pattern-based search and replace algorithm that is using the Perl-Compatible Regular Expressions library. TextWrangler includes a wide range of options when it comes to finding pieces of text in your documents and slightly modifying them. Of course, most of the TextWrangler capabilities can be accessed via the app’s menus. The main area is reserved for the text content, while the bottom toolbar displays details about your file. This way you can easily switch between your projects. Organized user interfaceįor your convenience, TextWrangler adds a panel to the left side of the main window where you can view a list of all opened files and the recently edited documents. The app come with a minimalist design but also provides a plethora of useful tools for writing, editing and transforming text.

It’s a professional, but budget featured, HTML and text editor for Mac. Its for this reason I really like TextWrangler. Some times you just want to code and not bring up the how IDE or you have an idea and just want to quickly jot it down without running a huge program.
